UC basketball schedule includes first trip to Oxford since 1993

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati’s men’s basketball schedule features the Bearcats’ first game at Miami University since 1993, a Jan. 6 home game vs. crosstown rival Xavier and a New Year’s Eve home game vs. Seton Hall that will be televised on ESPN2.

The season opens on Nov. 15 at home vs. Mt. St. Mary’s. UC will play its first six games at home – including a Nov. 27 game vs. Dayton at U.S. Bank Arena – before hitting the road to play at Toledo. Final Four participant West Virginia will play at Fifth Third Arena on Jan. 29.

UC women’s schedule features 10 NCAA Tournament teams

The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball schedule will feature matchups with some of college basketball’s elite, including 10 against 2010 NCAA Tournament qualifiers.

Second-year head coach Jamelle Elliott’s Bearcats will host defending national champion Connecticut as well as crosstown rival Xavier, who advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

The Bearcats open the 2010-11 season on Nov. 6 with an exhibition contest against Northern Kentucky, which made its fifth straight NCAA Division II tournament appearance last season.

The regular-season opener is slated for Nov. 12 against Southwest Baptist on Elementary School Day with a special tip time of 11 a.m. The Bearcats will then welcome North Florida (Nov. 14), Robert Morris (Nov. 21), and Mount St. Mary’s (Nov. 23) before facing its first road contest at Valparaiso on Nov. 28.

UC will then renew its rivalry with regional foe Dayton on Dec. 2 at UD Arena before returning to Fifth Third Arena for the annual rivalry game against Xavier on Dec. 5. UC has won two of the last three games against the Musketeers, who are coming off a trip to the 2010 NCAA Elite Eight.

UC then hosts rival Louisville in a rare early Big East Conference game on Dec. 15.
