The 2010 TCU football schedule began with a bang Saturday. The 2010 TCU football schedule might get easier, but Oregon State was their first opponent this season. Oregon State came into the game ranked No. 24 in the country, and for a while they hung tough with the TCU Horned Frogs. This was a night for TCU Football to be proud of though, as they proved late in the game that they are a team as strong as the one they had on the field last season. In the end, TCU beat Oregon State by a score of 30-21, and with the victory, may have set themselves up for a great run towards another BCS bowl game. They still have quite a few games in front of them, but the first big challenge for TCU in the 2010 schedule ended in a victory.
TCU quarterback Andy Dalton went 17-27 passing with 175 yards and one touchdown on Saturday. Dalton also had two interceptions that set the team back at times, but he was really helped by the ground game as well as his own running. Dalton rushed for two touchdowns and 64 yards on the ground, and was complimented by 74 rushing yards by Matthew Tucker. It was Ed Wesley that led the ground game though, totaling 134 rushing yards on just 17 carries and scoring a touchdown of his own. TCU ended up having 453 total yard of offense, and their defense held Oregon State to just 255 total yards on the night. The defense came up big when it really mattered, and that pressure caused Oregon State to hike the ball through the end zone in a critical play towards the end of the fourth quarter.
