Saints vs Vikings Season Opener 2010 – NFL Thursday Night Football 2010 – Tonight the NFL season officially kicks off. It has been eight months since the New Orleans Saints were able to win Super Bowl XLIV, during which they defeated the Indianapolis Colts in one of the best Super Bowl games of the last decade. They made it to the Super Bowl after they were able to barely beat Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in the conference championship game. Favre threw an interception with very little time left on the clock to take the game into overtime. Favre received a lot of criticism for the interception, and many said that they thought that he should have just fun the ball and the team should have attempted a field goal.

Now, he is back and is looking to avenge last season’s loss in what he has said will be the last season of his pro career, which we have heard before. During the conference championship game last year, the Saints were able to easily get to the quarterback, and roughed Favre up. Had they advanced, Favre likely would have been unable to even play in the Super Bowl because of an injury to his ankle, which would have effectively ended his active game streak.

The Saints were careful not to mess with their Super bowl winning formula, and have tried their best to keep the same team as they had last year. Some have said that they think that the Saints will suffer from a “Super Bowl hangover” that many teams face the season after they win.
