Colt McCoy now ?a married man

After a lot of speculation about when and where the wedding would happen, former University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and Rachel Glandorf were married Saturday.

According to Caplan Miller Events, which designed and produced the wedding, the ceremony at Westover Hills Church of Christ was followed by a reception at the TDS Exotic Game Ranch for about 550 guests, including Gov. Rick Perry, former UT quarterback and current coach Major Applewhite and legendary former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. Many UT coaches and teammates were also in attendance, and former UT receiver Jordan Shipley served as best man.

McCoy, 23, met Baylor grad Glandorf, 23, two years ago, and they got engaged a week after January’s national championship loss to Alabama. After their Bahamas honeymoon, they’ll move to Cleveland in time for McCoy to start training camp with the Cleveland Browns.

Alaska, no bust

He made it.

After two weeks and just short of 5,000 miles, Austin mechanic Jonathan Burnette and his 1959 Renault Dauphine made it to Anchorage, Alaska, on Tuesday, and aside from a flat tire (on the car), neither vehicle nor driver appeared much worse for the wear.

The American-Statesman profiled Burnette on July 2 as he embarked in what’s regarded as one of the worst cars in modern automotive history.

Aside from potholes hungry for French motorcars and the occasional moose or bear on the highway, Burnette had “nothing horrible to report, fortunately.”

Burnette said when he crossed the Alaska state line to take pictures, another car pulled over, and its occupants told him, “We’re from Austin. We’ve been following you.”
