A week ago, I took my shot at projecting the final roster.
I had hoped to get at best about 85 percent, which would be 45 of the 53 guys. Let’s take a look at the damage:
QB’s- Two for two, no surprises here.
RB’s- I didn’t think they’d go with five, and I was wrong. Personally I’m very disappointed to see Benjarvus Green-Ellis making the final roster. (-1)
WR’s- Slater making the cut over Aiken is a surprise, but not completely peculiar. (-1)
TE’s- Three for three, again very easy call.
OL- Pretty darn proud of my work here, the only error was my inclusion of Eric Ghiaciuc as I thought his versatility would have him on the team. (-1)
DL- Once again my only fault lies with going one deeper than Belichick did by having Damione Lewis on the final squad. I’m feeling good to this point. (-1)
LB’s- After writing the article fellow B/R users convinced me Ninkovich deserved a spot over Woods. That was the case, as was Dane Fletcher making the most of his long shot and sticking. The questionable trade for Tracy White really threw me off here. (-3)
CB’s- With Bodden’s injury, Wheatley replaces him in my projection. (-1)
S- McGowan being done for the year results in an unforeseen trade, which has Page taking his spot. (-1)
Specialists- Three for three, it would have been more shocking had I been wrong.
The final tally has me getting 44 of the 53, one less than I wanted. However, considering the amount of injuries the team has endured I’m pretty happy with my projections.
