September 10th, 2010

NEW ORLEANS - JANUARY 24: Adrian Peterson #28 of the Minnesota Vikings fumbles the ball as he was hit by Jonathan Vilma #51 of the New Orleans Saints during the NFC Championship Game at the Louisiana Superdome on January 24, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The New Orleans Saint kick off the NFL’s season by hosting the Minnesota Vikings in a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.

I am one of the Saints Featured Columnist, and I will be doing up-to-the-minute commentary and analysis  on the game from a Saints fan’s perspective. Feel free to comment as often as you wish.

Updates will load automatically – no need to refresh.

Saints have ran four times in a row. That’s more than their first half total.

Yes, sir!

Saints ran the ball twice in a row! Can I get three?

Offense needs to get crowd back into game.

Surprised Vikings did not run it on 3rd on three. Peterson averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Good break on the ball by Greer.

Peterson has 18 touches on team’s 35 plays. Saints may want to stop him.

Great tackle by Roby on kick return.

Start of second half. Ambush??? Probably not.

Saints 1-5 on third down.

Saints had -4 yards in the second quarter.

Hopefully Sean Payton remembers at halftime that it’s still legal to run the ball. Offense needs to sustain drives.

Think NBC wanted/expected a 9-7 game at halftime?

Figured Shiancoe would have a big night with Rice out and Camarillo being new.

Can’t let a tight end beat you down the field, Shanle!

Saints were one of the best 2nd quarter teams last year. Outscored 3-0 today.

O-line needs to step up its play on this drive. No penalties.

Great hit by Harper.

Favre on the ground!! Pick by Vilma!!

Malcolm Jenkins laying the wood!

That was the worst performance by the O-line I’ve seen in a long time. Two accepted penalties and a decline one all on the same drive.

Saints need a score here. So many yards, so few points. Vikings are eating the clock for dinner.

First big blitz of the game. Great coverage by Greer.

Very quick game. Five and half minutes left in the half and we’ve played less than an hour.

Gregg Williams holding back the dogs for now. Don’t expect that to happen all game.

Uh oh. Favre got touched. Surprised Chilly didn’t run out on the field to pick him up.

It’s been Peterson or bust so far for the Minnesota offense.  He’s touched ball on 9 of 11 plays.

Don’t know if you noticed but Saints playing a lot of 3-4. Marvin Mitchell playing next to Vilma.

Okay, maybe not…

My guess is that Saints go for it on fourth down to begin second quarter. Out of field goal range. Too close to punt. Brees completing just about 79 percent of his passes so far.

I want to see Bush truck someone instead of trying to jump over them. Good catch and run, though.

25 yard gain on a broken play. That’s why we love #9!

Penalties in favor Saints so far but curious how quickly refs will throw flag when Saints get close to Favre.

Good defensive game plan so far but gotta get that big horse on the ground.

Vikings ready for Saints’ screen game. Payton will need to adjust.

Wow. Didn’t know you could overthrow Henderson.

Saints need to get interior pass rush during game to make Favre run on that ankle.

Keep on eye on Malcolm Jenkins and the Jo-Lonn Dunbar.

It’s time for Favre on the ground.

Henderson just made Asher Allen look like and LSU DB not named Peterson.

TOUCHDOWN!!!!

Amazing that EJ Henderson is back so soon after his injury. Give him credit.

Good, tough run by Bush. Hope to see a lot of that.

Great pass to Colston down the middle for about a 25 yard gain.

Game time, baby! Saints get the ball first.

Dome should be rocking tonight. Most anticipated regular season home game since 2006 game vs Falcons.

That Super Bowl banner was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Who Dat!

Which loss will be felt more in this game?

The Vikings losing Sidney Rice or the Saints losing Darren Sharper?
