Actor Martin Short lost his wife, Nancy Dolman has died from cancer. Dolman, 58, has been battling cancer since 2007.
Martin Short and Nancy Dolman met in 1972 during the production of “Godspell.” Dolman was the understudy to Short’s then girlfriend, SNL alumni Gilda Radner, who also lost her life to cancer.
Short and Dolman began dating in 1974. The couple married six years later in 1980. Their thirty year marriage produced three children, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Oliver.
CNN first reported that Martin Short’s wife, Nancy Dolman had died. “Sadly, we can confirm that Martin Short’s wife did pass away,” Short’s rep Camille Kuznetz told CNN Monday. “We do not have any other comment to make.”
Martin Short is known for roles in movies such as ‘Father of The Bride,’ and ‘Captain Ron.’ Nancy Dolman worked as an actress on a soap opera in the 1980′s before retiring from acting to raise her family. Her death is being mourned by friends, family, and fans.
Both sides of the couples family are in the entertainment business. Martin Short’s brother, Michael Short is a comedy writer and an Emmy Award winner. Nancy Dolman’s brother Bob Dolman served as a part of SCTV’s Emmy-winning writing team. He married friend of the family and raised two children of his own.
