Jordan Todosey will be the main focus of the teen show Degrassi in its 10th season entering into a new territory of featuring transgender character.
Degrassi is going to celebrate its decade long featuring on TeenNick and cast of the show is excited about inclusion of Jordan Todosey as Adam who is biologically a female but presents her as a boy.
Jordan Todosey, 15 is from ‘Life With Derek’ and it is reported that for her role of Adam she has went under significant makeover including adoption to masculine gait.
Jordan Todosey said about her character that Adam was born physically as a girl but between the ears, feels like a guy.
Stefan Brogren, the director and producer of the show who also plays school principal explained that they have no idea when they decided to enter a transgender character in the story but with a realization that it would be brand new territory for them that they have never tried before adding that they have dealt with gay and lesbian stories but one can not approach to this territory in the same way.
Jordan Todosey’s transgender character is not the first queer theme at Degrassi, the show has been under debate previously for showing a pregnant teenager and her row with people at abortion clinic.
Jordan Todosey’s Adam story is set to be an ongoing story and it will cover almost the whole high school experience. To give a new twist to the plot, Adam (Jordan Todosey) would have a homophobic stepbrother Drew (Luke Bilyk)
Degrassi team hopes that this character will be loved by fans and it will also develop a fan base.
Jordan Todosey
