Anthony Gose and Roy Oswalt: MLB Players On the Move
Finally after days and days of rumors surrounding the Blue Jays, the Astros and the Phillies, trades have been made. Players are prepping to change their uniforms and hit the field for another team. The rumors have included some big name athletes making multi-million dollars along with some minor league players that only a select few recognize. Anthony Gose is headed to Toronto and Roy Oswalt is headed to the Phillies.
Many have expressed opinions about the trade that included both of these guys and many simply seem to be unhappy. The Blue Jays got the guy they wanted from the Houston Astros after it seemed as if that deal was off the table. That trade put other players on the move as well as the Jays didn’t hesitate to send Bret Wallace to the Astros. As for Anthony Gose, he is headed to the Toronto’s farm system and Roy Oswalt gave up his no-trade clause to make the move to the Phillies.
The Blue Jays have been trying to make this trade for several months but were specific about the players they wanted and what they would do to get them. In December they sent their ace pitcher Roy Halladay to the Phillies in a package deal. That package included pitcher Kyle Drabek, catcher Travis d’Arnaud and Michael Taylor. Anthony Gose won’t be 20 until later this summer but his numbers have been promising and of course, Roy Oswalt just goes about his business day in and day out and that shouldn’t change.
